The John B. Gunter Community Leadership Initiative has graduated 566 individuals from the area’s most progressive companies/organizations since 1996.

Increased competition, demographic forces, evolving technology, shifting markets, new legislation and the dynamics of change are driving the need for leadership in our region.

The program is designed to develop leadership for the Greater Johnstown/Cambria County area by honing leadership skills and promoting community volunteerism. The program explores leadership roles in both the area’s community organizations and corporations. The Leadership Initiative accomplishes this by building executive level skills to support the goals of the sponsoring organization and providing a basis for leadership and proactive community involvement.

It includes a variety of lectures and hands-on activity involving nationally recognized facilitators as well as discussions with some of the area’s most respected leaders in addition to the opportunity to develop and work as a team on a community project.

The John B. Gunter Community Leadership Initiative helps the next generation of leaders form bond with each other that will help them work together for the future of the Greater Johnstown/Cambria County region, and gives them means to acquire the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful leaders.

The Leadership Initiative strives to educate its participants by introducing them to regional leaders who provide invaluable perspectives on the successes of our region, the challenges we still face, and their potential for making an impact on our future.
